Gears of War: E-Day arrives on October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series and PC, via the Microsoft Store and Steam. The official Xbox page lists the game as available that day and included in Game Pass from day one.
The Coalition is developing the title in Unreal Engine 5. The campaign is set 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago on Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde erupts from below. Alongside the story, the game includes Horde Siege, a cooperative wave mode, and Versus.
Where to play, and what changes
On console, the launch is Xbox exclusive. In June, Gematsu reported that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma described the game as a console exclusive for the platform, even though a PEGI rating also mentioned PlayStation 5. No PS5 version is confirmed for October 6.
A Microsoft Store purchase includes Xbox Play Anywhere: one purchase covers console and PC. Product listings cite the Standard Edition at US$ 69.99 and the Premium Edition at US$ 99.99, the latter with up to five days of early access. Pre-orders placed before launch include the Exfil Dom and weapon skins. Coverage tracking the Xbox page puts the worldwide unlock at 8 a.m. Pacific, which is noon in Brasília.
Why it matters
E-Day lands the same day as Star Wars: Galactic Racer and a day before other Switch 2 releases that week. For Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscribers, day-one access lowers the need to buy immediately. A PlayStation version, if one exists on an internal drive as Jeff Grubb once speculated, is not part of the announced launch.
