Nvidia’s Game Ready driver 617.42 was published on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The GeForce Game Ready 617.42 WHQL package prepares cards for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 with DLSS 4.5 and also covers Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Valor Mortis, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 7.
What the 617.42 driver includes
According to package notes compiled by VideoCardz and the breakdown from Funky Kit, the driver is WHQL-certified for Windows 10 and Windows 11, in desktop and notebook builds. The highlight is Game Ready support for Modern Warfare 4 with DLSS 4.5, Nvidia’s upscaling and frame-generation technology. DLSS rebuilds the image from a lower resolution and, in recent versions, also generates extra frames.

In Flight Simulator 2024, Sim Update 7 moves DLSS to version 4.5 and adds Multi Frame Generation with up to 6x multiplication. Nvidia says 4x mode raised 4K frame rates by 4.2 times on average. In the company’s testing, 6x would scale linearly, with gains of up to 6.4 times. Those figures come from the manufacturer and depend on the scene, resolution, and GPU.
In practice, the driver matters for anyone playing Modern Warfare 4 or Galactic Racer on PC this week, and for Flight Simulator users who rely on frame generation.
Fix and known issue
Driver 617.42 fixes an Assassin’s Creed Shadows crash to the desktop after long sessions on driver 616.56, logged as 6685219. A known issue remains: the “Prefer Maximum Performance” power mode may not apply correctly, under code 6007998.
