Claude for Startups gives a free year of Claude Team and $1,000 in credits

Anthropic expanded the Claude for Startups program on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Approved companies receive a free year of Claude Team, with up to five Premium seats for those not already on the plan, and $1,000 in API credits. The company also offers access to Claude Marketplace, virtual office hours with the Applied AI team and a partner-offer stack that, according to the program page, can reach $45,000.

The Claude for Startups expansion was presented during SF Tech Week, at the Claude Founder House in San Francisco, scheduled for October 6–8. In the announcement, Anthropic said the benefits of AI will reach most people through the companies that build on top of models, rather than through the models alone. That is a company statement, not an independent market measurement.

Who can apply

Eligible startups were founded in the last five years or received funding in the last two. Applicants need a Claude Console account, a company email on the same domain as their website and a short description of what they are building. Anthropic says it reviews every application and that applicants must comply with its supportability policies. Claude for Startups benefits are subject to the program terms.

The move lands in a week when AI labs are competing for developers with price, credits and early access. Here the incentive is direct: a year of a team plan and a starter API budget, in exchange for founders building on Claude. There is no public figure yet for the number of slots, nor a stated deadline for applications.
