Outward 2 enters Early Access on February 8, 2027 on PC

The adventure RPG Outward 2 enters Early Access on PC on February 8, 2027. Nine Dots Studio and Nine Dots Publishing confirmed the date during the Triple-i Initiative on October 8, with a new release-date trailer.

The game is coming to Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. The studio expects 12 to 18 months of Early Access before version 1.0, using community feedback to finish the game.

What changed

Early Access had been set for July 7, 2026. In June, after an open test, Nine Dots delayed the launch less than a month before that date, saying players had asked for more development time. The new window is February 8, 2027.

As in the 2019 original, the player is not a chosen hero. There are three starting scenarios and eleven backgrounds. Falling in combat does not end the journey: you deal with the consequences, recover your backpack, and continue. The world of Aurai has four regions, a full-year seasonal cycle, and two-player co-op, online or split-screen.

Systems described by the studio include Exercise, in which passive skills grow with playstyle, ritual spellcasting, weapon-specific movesets, and a mule that can carry cargo but is also vulnerable. An older synopsis still mentions July; the official date is now February 2027.
