Ubisoft Motherbrain becomes a global generative-AI entity

Ubisoft Motherbrain, a name filed in September for AI software aimed at games, has reportedly moved beyond a trademark and now operates as a global entity inside the company. Insider Gaming published the account on October 4, 2026, citing sources and an internal note. Ubisoft has not confirmed the plan publicly.

What changed

Late-September filings used Motherbrain for downloadable AI software that can create games and interactive content. Geekiki covered that filing. According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft Motherbrain is now treated like Creative Houses and Core Services and is meant to reach as many games as possible.

The cited note says the team will operate as a global entity supporting gameplay innovation and will keep building proprietary middleware for generative gameplay. Source: Insider Gaming.

Who leads it

Xavier Manzanares, a 23-year veteran and Mario + Rabbids producer, would lead Ubisoft Motherbrain. He directed generative-AI research including Teammates and Neo NPC. In 2023 Ubisoft showed Ghostwriter. In late 2025 CEO Yves Guillemot said generative AI had spread across the company.

What it does not prove

There is no public product, date or game list. Until Ubisoft speaks officially, this is reported information. The backdrop is a cost-cutting round estimated at 180 million euros.
