Monster Hunter Rise passes 20 million copies, Capcom announces

Monster Hunter Rise has surpassed 20 million units sold across all platforms, Capcom announced. The milestone was reported on October 6, 2026 by Gematsu and Nintendo Life, based on the publisher's announcement.

What happened?

The last known official figure for Monster Hunter Rise, from June, was 19.3 million copies. The new mark is an increase of about 700,000 units in a few months. To celebrate, Capcom released commemorative dango artwork and a thank-you message to the hunters of Kamura.

In the company statement, the message is direct: Monster Hunter Rise has reached 20 million units in total sales. To all hunters, thank you for the support. Capcom also noted that the game is currently on sale in digital stores for anyone who has not yet started hunting.

Where the game is available

Monster Hunter Rise launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2021 and later came to PC. In 2023 it received versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. It is sold on those platforms, plus Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Sunbreak expansion helped keep the title relevant after the original launch.

  • Original debut: Nintendo Switch, 2021
  • Later ports: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series
  • Previous milestone: 19.3 million in June 2026
  • New milestone: more than 20 million units

How Rise compares with the rest of the series

According to Capcom's official site, as cited by Nintendo Life, Monster Hunter World had 22.40 million base-game copies as of June 30, 2026. World is still ahead. Monster Hunter Wilds, released in 2025 and the company's current focus, had passed 11 million units in an earlier update this year.

The Monster Hunter Rise figure shows that the Switch-era cycle did not end the game's commercial life. Even with Wilds on the market, Kamura Village keeps selling, partly through discounts and the installed base of players who entered the series on Nintendo's handheld.

Why it matters

Twenty million puts Monster Hunter Rise among Capcom's biggest hits of this generation, alongside World. The gap remains, but the recent pace shows the 2021 title is not just idle catalog. For players on Switch, PC or Sony and Microsoft consoles, Capcom's message is the same: the game is still on sale and the series is still active.
