Fallen Vampire anime arrives in 2027 with Evan Call on the score

The Fallen Vampire anime of The Record of a Fallen Vampire (original title Vampire Jujikai) is confirmed for 2027. The announcement landed on Monday, October 5, 2026, with a teaser visual, promotional video, main cast and staff, 24 years after serialization began.

What happened?

The official site vampirex-anime.com and the @VampireX_anime account confirmed the production. The story is by Kyo Shirodaira, with art by Yuri Kimura, published by Square Enix. In English, Viz Media released the print edition; Yen Press and Square Enix's Manga UP! Global handle the digital edition. Anime News Network logged the announcement the same day.

Direction and series composition are by Mankyu, credited on The Ramparts of Ice. The studios are Zero-G and Liber. Character design is by jimao, and the score is by Evan Call, composer of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and Violet Evergarden.

  • Akabara "Red Rose" Strauss, the pure-blooded vampire king, will be voiced by Yuma Uchida.
  • Bridget Irving Frostheart, a dhampir who has lived for more than a thousand years, will be voiced by Aino Shimada.

Why it matters

The manga has circulated for more than two decades without an anime. Viz's synopsis describes the fall of the night kingdom and Strauss losing his queen thousands of years before the main story. The official teaser asks why the supreme king became everyone's enemy. Evan Call puts the score in the same lane as fantasy anime with a strong musical identity. There is still no premiere month, broadcaster or episode count: the official site confirms only 2027.

What changes in practice

Readers following the Fallen Vampire anime can use the official site and the production PV. The manga remains available in English from Viz and digitally from Yen Press and Manga UP! Global. Until the schedule arrives, the new material is the teaser, not a broadcast date.
