Ashes & Ascension arrives for MechWarrior 5 with an 18-mission campaign

Ashes & Ascension arrived on October 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. Pacific time as a DLC for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Piranha Games calls Ashes & Ascension the largest campaign in the series so far: 18 missions, new cinematics, 13 Clan Mechs, Inner Sphere OmniMechs and variants, plus new weapons.

What happened?

The studio confirmed the date in a September 11 notice on the official site and on Steam. Ashes & Ascension is on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store/Xbox and PlayStation. Alongside the paid expansion, the team shipped free improvements and content for anyone who already owns the base game.

Promo material also listed five faction starts in career mode and ten new high-reward crates. Players who wishlisted the DLC and posted in the official MechWarrior Online forum thread before launch earned rewards in that online game. That wishlist bonus was pre-launch, not a permanent store item.

Why it matters

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, from 2019, is still getting expansions years after release. Ashes & Ascension is the ninth DLC, according to the September announcement. For mecha and sim fans, the concrete gain is a longer campaign and new Clan chassis, the more advanced BattleMechs of the BattleTech setting. The player runs a mercenary company: taking contracts, customizing mechs and fighting in first person from the cockpit.

What changes in practice?

Anyone already playing on PC, Xbox or PlayStation can buy the Ashes & Ascension campaign now. Players who skip the purchase still get the free update announced with the DLC. Piranha did not publish a Brazilian-real price or review scores in the launch note. Official details are at mw5mercs.com and on the Steam news page.
