The new anime adaptation of Magic Knight Rayearth, CLAMP's classic manga, premieres this Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in the IMAnimation W block on TV Asahi and affiliated stations. The series' official account confirmed the season opens at 11:45 p.m. Japan time, noting that some regions are outside the network.
The production airs for two consecutive cours, about half a year of broadcast. Hikaru Shido is voiced by Ayane Sakura, Umi Ryuzaki by Rumi Okubo and Fuu Hououji by Rie Takahashi. Saori Hayami plays Emeraude, Yuki Ono plays Zagato and Mika Kikuchi voices Mokona. The cast announced in September also includes Yuki Kaji as Clef, Emiri Kato as Presea and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio, plus Mamiko Noto (Alcione), Ayumu Murase (Ascot), Hitomi Ueda (Caldina) and Hiroki Yasumoto (Lafarga).
What changes from the announcement
The date and two-cour format had already been revealed on the KyoMAF stage on September 20, along with the second main trailer. What changes now is that the broadcast is actually starting. The opening is Otome no Tsurugi by Toaka, and the ending is Hoshiakari by Yurina Kawaguchi. Yui Miura directs the series in his debut as lead director, with production by E&H production.
The story follows three students taken from a Tokyo Tower field trip to Cephiro, where they must become Magic Knights to save Princess Emeraude. The original manga, published by Kodansha in six volumes, already had a 1990s anime. This 2026 version is a new adaptation, not an announced continuation of that season.
