The 2.5D MMORPG World of Dokkaebi, by Kakao Games and developed by Supercat, reached 1st place in Google Play revenue rankings in South Korea just five days after its launch on October 8, 2026.
What happened?
The game, based on the Naver web novel and webtoon “Myeolgwi Sudojeon” (or Exorcism Chronicles), combines 2D pixel-art characters with 3D backgrounds in a Korean fantasy universe inspired by traditional folklore, with dokkaebi and Joseon elements. It offers flexible progression without fixed classes, combining skill styles, and focuses on cooperative play.
Results and plans
Before launch, the title already led popularity rankings on the App Store and Google Play. Now, with revenue leadership on Google Play, Kakao Games prioritizes stable service in the domestic market and prepares global expansion. The game maintains high ratings, around 4.6 stars.
Why it matters
The rapid success of World of Dokkaebi highlights the potential of mobile MMORPGs with differentiated Korean aesthetics and narrative, especially in a saturated genre market. Preparation for global launch could bring the title to more players outside South Korea.
