Witcher 3 Remastered: CDPR is fixing bloom; Switch 2 still waits

Witcher 3 Remastered launched in late September 2026, and CD Projekt Red is already handling the first post-launch fixes. Quest designer Paweł Sasko said the studio shipped two hotfixes and that more work is ongoing, including the bloom effect. On Switch 2, players report a blurry handheld image, and CDPR has not confirmed a date for that version’s patch.

What happened?

Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red’s global community and social director, wrote on X that the studio is looking into the bloom effect across all platforms. The aim is to have changes ready for the next update, but he said there are no details yet. Sasko repeated the point: teams are monitoring reports and work continues, with bloom on the list.

On PC, CDPR published hotfix 5.00c for Witcher 3 Remastered. According to the official game site, fixes already delivered on other platforms addressed save and load issues, audio, lighting and various bugs. That does not mean bloom is solved: Momot points to the next update, with no date.

Why it matters

Bloom is the glow that spills from bright lights, such as torches and the Skellige sun. Too much of it washes out contrast and hides detail. On Switch 2, the SwitchUp channel said it is in contact with CDPR and that the studio intends to fix the soft handheld image. SwitchUp tempered expectations: it had not confirmed how far the handheld fix would go and guessed a couple of weeks, partly because Nintendo patches need approval. That estimate is the channel’s, not an official CDPR deadline.

Witcher 3 Remastered is a free upgrade for owners of the Switch version. For new buyers, Nintendo Life lists a price of $59.99 or £45.99. The game is also on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

What changes in practice

  • Two hotfixes have already shipped, according to Paweł Sasko.
  • Bloom is queued for the next update on all platforms, with no date.
  • On PC, hotfix 5.00c covers saves, audio and lighting; bloom is separate.
  • On Switch 2, a handheld fix was indicated to SwitchUp, but the multi-week guess is not official.

PC players can turn bloom off in the options while waiting. On Switch 2, the fix depends on the update and Nintendo’s approval queue. CDPR has not posted a single date for every platform.
