Super Danganronpa 2x2 received a set of newly drawn illustrations on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Spike Chunsoft published the redrawn cast of the high-speed investigation-action remake of Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Academy. Beyond the 16 Super High School Level students, Super Danganronpa 2x2 includes the new Kyoki Mode character Higashi Sai Kuutaro (東才空太郎).
What was shown?
Famitsu reproduced the publisher's release. The art covers protagonist Hajime Hinata, Nagito Komaeda, and the rest of the Jabberwock Island class, plus Monokuma and Monomi. The new character is tied to Kyoki Mode, the original mode supervised by Kazutaka Kodaka of Too Kyo Games.
Inside, citing the same material, lists the voices announced with the art: Monokuma with Wasabi Mizuta, Monomi with Kinuta Ooshiro, and Higashi Sai Kuutaro with Natsuki Hanae. Hajime remains with Minami Takayama and Nagito with Megumi Ogata, names already linked to the original roles. An official romaji reading of 東才空太郎 was not spelled out in the release carried by Famitsu; the kanji is what Spike Chunsoft published.
When and where?
Spike Chunsoft's stated release date for Super Danganronpa 2x2 is January 14, 2027. Platforms in the release are Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game is described as high-speed reasoning action, not a simple visual reissue of the 2012 title.
Earlier material, also cited by Famitsu, says Kyoki Mode reuses original themes such as the traitor, but changes how you play. Production credits Kodaka with supervising the mode, with plot and tricks by him and Takekuni Kitayama, script by Yoichiro Koizumi, and sound by Masafumi Takada and Jun Fukuda.
Why it matters
Danganronpa went years without a new mainline game. Super Danganronpa 2x2 is, so far, the most concrete return: redrawn visuals, a reintroduced cast, and a mode Spike Chunsoft treats as new content, not a cosmetic extra. Natsuki Hanae on the new character is the clearest hook in this art drop.
This release does not include a price, confirmation of a Portuguese dub, or a specific Brazil window. What is locked is the Japanese date of January 14, 2027, and the Super Danganronpa 2x2 platform list.
