Rainbow Six Mobile shuts down on January 15, 2027, less than a year after global launch

Ubisoft has decided to shut down Rainbow Six Mobile. In an official note from the team, posted on the game's help center and echoed on the title page, the studio says servers stay online until January 15, 2027 and that the next season will still ship as planned.

The announcement lands less than a year after the global launch. The game, a 5v5 tactical shooter inspired by Rainbow Six Siege, soft-launched in 2023 and rolled out widely on February 23, 2026, according to GameSpot and Mobile Gamer. Once online services end, the game stops working.

What Ubisoft confirmed

In the message to players, the team calls the decision difficult and thanks the community built across 15 seasons since soft launch. On the reason, the official reply does not blame player numbers. Ubisoft says the shutdown was made to align resources with long-term strategic priorities.

  • The game remains playable until January 15, 2027.
  • Upcoming seasons stay on the planned calendar.
  • Transition details, including any refund policy for recent content, will be shared later.
  • Updates are expected on official Rainbow Six Mobile channels.

Why it matters

Rainbow Six Siege remains a reference point for tactical shooters on PC and consoles more than a decade after launch. The mobile version tried to bring attack versus defense, operators, and destructible environments to phones. Ending service less than 11 months after worldwide availability shows how narrow the window is for a competitive free-to-play game, even with an established brand.

Ubisoft has not detailed where the team will be reassigned. GameSpot notes that the next publicly mentioned franchise game is Rainbow Six Tactics, expected next year; that does not appear in the mobile shutdown notice and should not be read as a direct replacement.
