PSBox Xbox Cloud Gaming on jailbroken PS5: homebrew with 4K upscale and DualSense

PSBox Xbox Cloud Gaming has arrived for the jailbroken PS5. Developer RafaelNGP released this native homebrew application that allows streaming games from Microsoft's cloud service directly on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles.

What PSBox offers on PS5

Unlike a simple browser wrapper, PSBox is a native client. It lets you sign in with a Microsoft account, browse the Game Pass catalog, and stream games at 1080p and 60 fps. The DualSense controller is mapped as a standard Xbox controller, with support for rumble, adaptive triggers, and colored light bar.

The app also offers 4K upscaling using the PS5 GPU via AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K, support for up to four simultaneous controllers, native voice chat, and the ability to play via Remote Play on your own Xbox.

How to install and use PSBox on PS5

Login is done with a code displayed on the TV and entered on your phone, without typing a password on the console. The project is open source under GPL-3.0 and has no official affiliation with Microsoft or Sony. It requires a homebrew-enabled PS5 (firmware up to 13.60, for example via Relapse) and, for most of the catalog, a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

The latest version, v0.9.5, added native voice chat with the DualSense microphone, a real-time volume meter, and audio stability improvements. The official repository is on GitHub: RafaelNGP/xbox-cloud-gaming-ps5.

Why PSBox Xbox Cloud Gaming on PS5 matters

The PS5 homebrew scene has been growing rapidly. Projects like PSBox show how Sony's hardware can be used in unofficial ways. At the same time, it highlights the advance of cloud gaming and how easily services from one platform can reach another via third-party software.

Microsoft and Sony do not endorse the project. The service may be changed or blocked at any time by the original providers.
