Monster Hunter Rise Netflix appeared on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, on Google Play and the App Store as a Netflix Games title. The listing requires a Netflix subscription to download and play, and the file runs on the device itself, not as a cloud stream.
What happened?
The Android page for Monster Hunter Rise Netflix, package com.netflix.NGP.MonsterHunterRise, describes Capcom's 2021 action game, first released on Nintendo Switch and later on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Eurogamer and Siliconera treated the store pages as a quiet launch. What's on Netflix reported, based on its own information, an initial rollout in the Philippines and Malaysia. Netflix and Capcom had not published a formal statement by the time this article was filed.
The store description lists three differences from the versions players already know:
- Challenge and event quests that used to be paid or temporary can now be unlocked through progress.
- A recovery button automatically picks the most effective item in the inventory based on the hunter's health and status.
- Touch controls were rebuilt for phones and tablets, with a scheme for each weapon and visuals adapted to several screen ratios.
Siliconera noted that the listing appears to cover the base game, not the Sunbreak expansion, with online multiplayer for up to four players. Cross-play with consoles or PC is not mentioned.
Why it matters
Rise is one of Capcom's biggest recent hits. Eurogamer recalled that the series' Japanese account announced 20 million copies sold worldwide on October 6. Putting that game on phones, inside a subscription, changes its reach without an extra purchase of the title.
The timing also stands out. Eurogamer noted that the mobile version arrives in the same month Tencent's Monster Hunter Outlanders is preparing to launch on October 29. They are different products: a native port of the 2021 game versus an open, service-style title built for phones.
What changes in practice
Anyone who already subscribes to Netflix and is in a region where the listing is open can download the game on Google Play or the App Store and play on the device after installation. The requirement is the subscription, not a separate purchase of Rise. Outside those regions, the page may simply not appear.
The recovery button and touch controls are the clearest adaptations for players without physical triggers. There is still no global date, and no confirmation that Sunbreak is in the package. Until Capcom or Netflix announce it, regional reach and exact content should be read as what the stores show now, not as a finished worldwide launch.
