Sega teased the arrival of Metal Sonic in Fortnite during the Club Chaos livestream for Sonic the Hedgehog's 35th anniversary. The teaser for the collaboration ends with the message "to be continued" and briefly shows the character's signature red eyes.
What happened?
The Metal Sonic in Fortnite teaser, shown in Sega's live stream, features Sonic comic art from Fortnite followed by the red eyes of the robotic clone created by Dr. Eggman. Sources like Nintendo Life and Sonic Stadium confirmed the visual, indicating a second wave of the collaboration that began in August 2026 with Sonic and friends in the Override season of Chapter 7 Season 4.
No official details on release date or other items have been revealed yet. Speculation points to a possible arrival around October 15 in version 42.40, aligned with Fortnitemares.
Why it matters
Metal Sonic is one of the most iconic villains in the Sonic franchise and will also appear in the live-action movie Sonic the Hedgehog 4, set for March 2027, and the 35th anniversary animated short Memories and Beyond.
