Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] arrives October 8 on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2

Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] arrives on October 8, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix is bundling the three sets that tell the Dark Seeker saga, the core story of Sora, Donald and Goofy against the forces of darkness.

What happened?

The Japanese PlayStation Blog reminded readers on Wednesday that the launch is set for October 8. The collection includes Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. The three titles also ship separately as digital-only releases. The full package has both digital and physical editions.

In Japan, Square Enix lists Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] at 11,000 yen including tax, for both the box and the download. Sold separately on PS5, the digital prices are 5,280 yen for 1.5+2.5, 4,180 yen for 2.8 and 5,280 yen for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. Players who already own the PS4 digital versions can buy each title at a discount, but Sony and Square Enix warn that save data does not transfer.

Nintendo's US store page confirms October 8, 2026 for Switch 2 and lists a platform-exclusive Keyblade, Long Night, with purchase. In Japan, the Switch 2 physical edition is a key card: the game itself downloads on first launch. Square Enix's Japanese store also offers a digital wallpaper to e-STORE buyers through October 31.

Why it matters

Kingdom Hearts turns 25 in 2027. Before that anniversary, Square Enix is putting the main saga on three current platforms at once. On Switch 2, a native release matters because earlier Switch versions relied on cloud streaming. On PC, the three sets will also be available on the Microsoft Store, alongside Steam and Epic.

The package covers the arc from Destiny Islands to the final clash of the Guardians of Light. It includes playable games and two HD cinematic titles, 358/2 Days and Re:coded, inside 1.5+2.5. Kingdom Hearts III also brings the Re Mind episode.

What changes in practice

Players who want the full story can buy the bundle or assemble the saga title by title. On PS5, the three Japanese downloads together cost more than the package, so the collection is the more direct option. On Switch 2, space is needed for the key-card download. PS4 saves do not follow the jump to the new generation.
