iPhone Duo: extraordinary demand pushes deliveries to January 2027

What happened?

Apple said demand for the iPhone Duo is “nothing short of extraordinary.” Pre-orders that opened on October 16 pushed delivery dates from October 23 to late January 2027 within minutes. The iPhone Duo is the company’s first foldable smartphone, featuring a 5.4-inch outer display and 7.6-inch inner display, starting at $1,999.

Why it matters

The instant sell-out shows strong public interest in Apple’s first foldable, even at a premium price and after earlier reports of production challenges (yields around 60%). Analysts such as Dan Ives project millions of units sold. Apple continues to accept online orders and is preparing stores for the October 23 launch.

What changes in practice

Anyone who missed the initial pre-order window will have to wait until early 2027 for online delivery. In-store units may still be available on launch day. The device uses Touch ID on the side button instead of Face ID and includes the A20 Pro chip with improved performance.
