GTA 6 on Switch 2: Nintendo of America president announces nothing

GTA 6 on Switch 2 remains unannounced. Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard did not confirm Grand Theft Auto VI for the console. In a Variety interview published on October 9, 2026, she said that would be “a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar” and that she had nothing to announce at the time.

The statement neither confirms the game on the console nor rules it out. Pritchard took the role in January, replacing Doug Bowser, and used the conversation to talk about the early cycle of Switch 2, released in June 2025.

What Variety reported

Variety wrote that Switch 2 sales have topped 23 million units. The figure appears as the outlet's statement, not as a direct quote from Pritchard. Nintendo did not issue its own release with that total the same day.

Pritchard said the company is still at the beginning of seeing what Switch 2 can do and repeated the long-standing line that Nintendo is for ages 5 to 95. As examples of catalog range, Variety cites Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2 this fall, the first Call of Duty on a Nintendo console in more than a decade, plus titles such as Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and Pokémon Pokopia.

Zelda, and what has not changed

On the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Pritchard spoke of a celebration of the whole universe, not only Link and Zelda. Variety describes the Ocarina of Time remake, a concert series and the live-action film made with Sony, due in April, as already known parts of that calendar. On theme parks, she said any Zelda extension at Universal's Super Nintendo World has to be deliberate so it does not crowd out Mario and Donkey Kong attractions.

Variety still dates GTA 6 for November. IGN carried the same quote and noted that the game is also planned for Xbox Series S. None of that equals a confirmed port. Readers waiting for a yes or a no are left with the same uncertainty as before the interview.
