Frostpunk Switch arrives on October 19, 2026. 11 bit studios is bringing the strategy survival game to Nintendo Switch, with preorders already open on the eShop and a free trial build available, according to Friday's announcement as reported by IT Home.
What is in the package
The Switch edition includes three expansions: The Rifts, The Last Autumn and On The Edge. Switch 2 owners can play the version through backward compatibility, according to the same report. There is no mention so far of a build exclusive to the newer console.
On the US store, IT Home cites a list price of $29.99 and a launch price of $20.99. The page it points to is Nintendo's: Frostpunk on the US eShop.
Why the game still matters
Frostpunk is a game in which the city revolves around a steam generator in a frozen world. The player manages people, food, heat and laws. Hard choices about work hours, health and food change the city, and they have a cost. IT Home notes that the narrative was BAFTA-nominated and that earlier versions average around 84 on Metacritic.
For handheld players the news is practical. A classic city-management game, with its three main DLCs, now fits on the original Switch and on Switch 2 without a separate expansion purchase. The launch discount under the list price is the other half of the pitch.
