Forza Horizon 6 arrives on PS5 on January 26, 2027, alongside the first expansion

Forza Horizon 6 arrives on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, in both physical and digital editions. Developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, the Sony release slips out of 2026 and arrives in the same window as the first paid expansion and a free update.

What was announced

According to Gematsu and The Verge, players who buy the Premium Edition on PS5 get early access on January 21, 2027, up to five days before the general launch. GameSpot reports that the first paid expansion also lands on January 21 for every platform and is included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and the expansions bundle. It can be bought separately; price and contents have not been detailed. It is the first of two planned paid expansions.

What changes in practice

Forza Horizon 6 has been on Xbox Series and PC since May 2026, including Game Pass. The PS5 edition is not a new game: it is the same Japan-set campaign, with the Horizon Festival, more than 550 real cars and touge battles. Player-created content stays cross-platform. A free update for every owner, on every platform, is expected to ship with the PS5 launch and the expansion in 2027.

Microsoft is still taking Xbox franchises to other consoles while it reorganizes the entertainment business. The Xbox XP division, announced this week, handles film, products and events; Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 is the other side of that opening, the game itself.

Why it matters

The official date ends the expectation of a 2026 PS5 launch after Playground had pointed to Sony's console this year. The delay ties the PlayStation debut to the extra-content calendar, the same path Microsoft already used with Forza Horizon 5. What has not been confirmed is the expansion theme, the price in Brazil, and whether a physical edition will reach local stores.
