Square Enix ended service for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The mobile RPG set in the Final Fantasy VII universe launched on smartphones on September 7, 2023, and ran for about three years. Famitsu and the game's official Japanese account confirmed the shutdown.
What happened
In a post from @FFVII_EC_JP, the team thanked everyone who played over those three years and said service ended on October 7. Alongside the shutdown, Square Enix released a special video, described by Famitsu as a final movie, looking back at the title and thanking the player base.
Ever Crisis retold pieces of the Final Fantasy VII compilation and related stories in mobile chapters, with live-service RPG progression. With the server offline, the game no longer receives updates or events. Square Enix did not announce a permanent offline version in the materials cited by Famitsu.
Why it matters
The shutdown closes a short run for a product tied to one of Square Enix's strongest brands. Three years is a familiar span for live-service games that cannot sustain operations, but it lands harder under the Final Fantasy VII name. Players who still had progress, items, or seasonal events in the app lose online access from this date.
The end does not change the other games in the series. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Rebirth, and the classic releases remain on their platforms. Ever Crisis was a separate product built around short sessions and ongoing updates.
