Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO: Bandai Namco Reveals Roadmap with Tower of Power and Cross-Play for 2027

What happened?

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO turns two years old on October 11, 2026, and Bandai Namco celebrated the anniversary with a detailed roadmap of free updates and DLC through summer 2027. The main highlight is the new Tower of Power mode, a progressive challenge where players face increasingly stronger enemies on each floor.

For PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam), the solo version of Tower of Power arrives in winter 2026. In spring 2027 comes the Team-Up version (up to 5 players online, each controlling one character in turns), plus Mission 100 SP and Survival Mode SP. After summer 2027 a cross-play beta between PS5, Xbox and Steam is planned, plus a new paid character.

Why does this matter?

Sparking! ZERO is one of the most successful anime fighting games in recent years, with over 200 characters and 3D combat faithful to the series' battles. Tower of Power adds a solo and cooperative progression mode that rewards the use of characters trained in the Limit Breaker Journey mode from the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, with customization items that visually enhance the Ki charge aura.

The different schedule for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is relevant: those platforms receive the NEO DLC and basic modes in spring 2027, and the full Tower of Power only after summer. The late cross-play shows the technical challenge of synchronizing the versions.

What changes in practice?

PS5, Xbox and PC players can expect new free offline and online content still this year and in the first half of 2027. Switch fans need more patience, but the roadmap confirms continued support. The cross-play beta may finally unite the communities of the main platforms.

Characters that complete Tower of Power gain customizable Ki aura items, encouraging replay and experimentation with the huge roster. The community is already speculating about which fighters may arrive in the next paid DLC.
