Dark Arisen launches October 9: Dragon's Dogma 2 adds Norgan and a Switch 2 version

Dark Arisen launches on October 9, 2026, and brings Dragon's Dogma 2 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom confirmed the date in a June 10 statement. On the eve of release, GamingBolt reported an overview trailer narrated by Ron Perlman.

What happened?

Dark Arisen sends the Arisen to Norgan, a ruined snowy north. The trailer introduces the Fallen Dragon and hints at a link to the Red Dragon that steals the protagonist's heart at the start of the series. It also adds 12 challenge dungeons on the original map, new hairstyles and tattoos, and extra Pawn quests.

In Japan, Famitsu listed the edition that bundles the base game and Dark Arisen at 5,990 yen including tax. On Switch 2, Capcom sells the full package: it is the first time the franchise reaches a current Nintendo console. Players who already own the game on PS5, Xbox or PC buy only the expansion.

Even without the paid content, a free base-game update adds a hard mode on the same October 9. The official page is at dragonsdogma.com/2da. Capcom's statement is in its investor PDF.

Why it matters

Dragon's Dogma 2, released in 2024, was praised for Pawn combat and criticized for travel pace and launch performance. Dark Arisen reuses the name of the 2013 expansion, but Capcom is treating this version as a package of a new region, dungeons and post-launch fixes, not as a remake of Bitterblack Isle.

Switch 2 is the clearest audience gain. Capcom described the port as part of its multiplatform strategy and said the package combines the campaign and Dark Arisen in one product.

What changes in practice

  • Players on PS5, Xbox Series or PC need Dark Arisen to enter Norgan and the 12 dungeons.
  • On Switch 2, the game arrives complete, with the base game and Dark Arisen together.
  • Hard mode arrives free for base-game owners, according to coverage of the October 8 trailer.
  • The expansion's director is Kento Kinoshita, according to launch coverage.

Dark Arisen is set for October 9, 2026, with storefront clocks varying by shop. Sources: Capcom, Famitsu and GamingBolt.
