Dark Arisen for Dragon's Dogma 2 launches today on Switch 2

The Dark Arisen expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2 arrives this Friday, October 9, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. On Switch 2, the package brings Capcom's action RPG and Dark Arisen to the platform for the first time, priced at $49.99 (about £44.99 in the UK), according to the Nintendo Life listing.

What happened?

Capcom is positioning Dark Arisen as a paid continuation of the 2024 adventure. On consoles and PC, players who already own Dragon's Dogma 2 can buy only the expansion for $29.99. There is no earlier version of the game on Switch 2: today's release ships the base game and the expansion together.

The new setting is Norgan, a long-abandoned northern region covered in snow, as Capcom describes it. The story centers on a Fallen Dragon and a character named Eir. It also adds 12 challenge dungeons called Lost Rites, relics that unlock new weapons and skills, plus extra hairstyles and tattoos for the Arisen and the main Pawn.

Why it matters

Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of the most discussed action RPGs of the current generation, and Dark Arisen is the first time the series reaches Switch 2. The $49.99 package works as an entry point for anyone who skipped the 2024 release. For players already on PS5, Xbox or Steam, the standalone $29.99 expansion is the direct route.

Nintendo Life reported that the Switch 2 version uses frame generation to offer motion equivalent to 60 fps, with a 30 fps base target docked and in handheld. Producer Naoto Oyama, in comments cited by the outlet, warned that interpolation can produce ghosting in some scenes. It is an optional feature, not a free quality jump.

What changes in practice

  • Switch 2: full game plus Dark Arisen, $49.99, from October 9.
  • PS5, Xbox Series and Steam: standalone expansion at $29.99 for base-game owners.
  • Content: Norgan, 12 Lost Rites, relics, new visual options and the story with Eir.
  • Pre-order bonus: the Norgan Fashion Set, Northern Attire, available in in-game storage at launch, according to Capcom.

Exact unlock times vary by store. Capcom published a timetable for Xbox and Steam pointing to midnight UTC on October 9; PS5 and Switch 2 follow each storefront's clock. More detail is on the official site and the October schedule from Nintendo UK.
