CrowdStrike buys Fiddler AI and Dreadnode to watch and test AI agents

CrowdStrike announced on November 3, 2026, during Fal.Con Europe 2026 in Barcelona, definitive agreements to acquire two AI security startups: Fiddler AI and Dreadnode. The acquisitions have not closed and remain subject to customary closing conditions, with completion expected in the company's fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.

What Fiddler AI brings

Fiddler AI, specialized in AI agent observability and explainability, will be sold as part of the Falcon platform under the name Falcon Observe. According to CrowdStrike, the technology evaluates agents before deployment, traces decisions, reasoning paths and tool calls, detects drift and hallucinations in production, and produces evidence for audits and compliance.

What Dreadnode tests

Dreadnode works on automated AI security testing: the idea is to attack models, applications and agents before launch, using more than 100 known attack strategies, including jailbreaks and prompt injection, to find and fix weaknesses before they reach production. The offering will be sold as Automated AI Security Testing, also generally available in fiscal Q4 2027.

Values: fact versus reporting

One point requires a clear distinction between fact and reporting: CrowdStrike did not disclose the transaction values. The combined total of about US$495 million — roughly US$400 million for Fiddler AI and US$95 million for Dreadnode — is information reported by The Wall Street Journal and echoed by other outlets, not a figure confirmed by the company. CrowdStrike said only that payment will be predominantly in cash, with a portion in stock subject to vesting conditions.

The complete agent cycle

The move completes the AI Kill Switch announcement in Falcon Guardian, already covered by Geekiki: while the Kill Switch tries to stop a rogue agent in operation, Fiddler should explain what the agent did and why, and Dreadnode should test it before production. Together, the three pieces cover the agent lifecycle — test, observe and stop — but none of them alone guarantees that every agent can be controlled in every environment.
