Charlie Cox SEGA: actor records about 40 hours for an unannounced game

The Charlie Cox SEGA story came out of New York Comic Con 2026: the Daredevil actor told IGN he recorded an as-yet unnamed game for the publisher. Recording, he said, is finished, at roughly 40 hours of lines. SEGA has not confirmed the project.

What happened?

Cox spoke with IGN's Jeffrey Vega in New York. According to the October 8, 2026 report, he said: "I did another one. It doesn't have a name yet. I did a SEGA one. I've done one since. It hasn't come out yet." He called the job fun and hard: "it's a whole different job."

The most concrete detail came from the first studio day. Cox said the team expected an American and only realized he is English when they heard him speak. The character was meant to have an American accent, and he had to record about 40 hours of lines without preparing the accent. Character name, internal studio and platform remain unconfirmed.

Why it matters

Forty hours of dialogue, at the volume Cox described, usually points to a central role rather than a short cameo. IGN notes that the volume suggests a lead part, but that is the outlet's reading, not an official SEGA figure on Charlie Cox SEGA.

Cox has already shown range in games as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (2025), nominated for Best Performance at The Game Awards. On that production he recorded his lines in a session of about four hours. The contrast with the 40 hours on this SEGA project is what makes the account notable for anyone following game voice work.

What changes in practice?

Nothing playable arrives now. The actor said the game has no name and has not shipped. IGN lists SEGA's already announced slate — including Stranger Than Heaven, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, Persona 6 and Alien: Isolation 2 — and notes that a nameless project is unlikely to be one of those. That is inference, not confirmation.

  • Fact: Cox told IGN he recorded a still-unnamed SEGA game.
  • Fact: he estimated about 40 hours of lines and a character the team wanted to sound American.
  • Unconfirmed: title, internal studio, platform and date.
