AION 2 closed its first global free-to-play day with a peak of 397,905 concurrent players on Steam on October 5 (UTC), according to SteamDB as cited by Inven Global. It is the highest figure recorded for the game on the platform since launch.
NC said that, adding players who enter through the PURPLE launcher, concurrency passed 400,000. PURPLE users play on the same global servers but are not counted by SteamDB. The Steam record is 226,375 above the early-access peak of 171,530, an increase of about 2.3 times.
What changed from early access
Early access for Founder's Pack buyers began on September 30. The global free-to-play version of AION 2 opened at 10:00 p.m. KST on October 5 (10:00 a.m. Brasília time) on Steam and PURPLE. A monthly membership is optional.
The PC service covers North America, South America, Europe and Asia (Japan), with interface and subtitles in eight languages, including English, Japanese and Korean. Before the official launch, NC said Steam wishlists had passed 1.3 million and that on September 30 the game led Steam's global top sellers chart by revenue.
The peak does not by itself show retention or revenue. There is also no public figure for PURPLE-only players. The global launch campaign, with rewards and Twitch Drops, runs until October 16, according to GG.deals.
