What happened?
The Yuji Horii AI game Interrogation Room Komiya was shared on X on October 11, 2026. The creator of the Dragon Quest series and The Portopia Serial Murder Case claimed to have produced it in about 30 minutes using AI by giving instructions, without drawing or programming himself.
The game is a public Claude artifact from Anthropic and is free in the browser. Players interrogate Komiya, a 72-year-old locksmith suspected of a pawnshop robbery, managing agitation and resistance meters with a 20-move limit.
Why is this important?
Horii compared it to making Portopia in 1983 alone. AI now allows one person to create a decent game quickly. The post gained millions of views amid industry shifts toward AI-first development.
What changes in practice?
The Yuji Horii AI game experiment demonstrates rapid prototyping with tools like Claude Artifacts, though narrative design still relies on the creator's expertise. The game is Japanese-only and a short demo. A Portopia remake is due in 2027.
