Rockstar Games released the official launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on Thursday, October 15. The roughly 90-second video deepens the story context for protagonists Jason and Lucia in the fictional state of Leonida.
What the trailer shows
The official description reads: “Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
The footage was captured entirely on a PlayStation 5, according to Rockstar. The music features the French electronic duo Justice, composers of the game’s original score. The single “Flower in a Hurricane” (feat. Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) is part of the official album Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
Why it matters
GTA VI is the most anticipated release of the current generation. The launch trailer arrives just over a month before the confirmed November 19, 2026 date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is Rockstar’s first major single-player title since Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018).
