Resident Evil Switch 2: remakes of 2, 3 and 4 arrive today in native versions with discounts

What happened?

Resident Evil Switch 2 receives today, October 16, 2026, the native versions of the Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes. Capcom released the digital editions on the eShop, with launch discounts valid until November 7, 2026. Physical versions arrive on January 29, 2027.

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition run directly on the console, without relying on cloud streaming as was the case on the original Switch for the first two titles. Resident Evil 4 had no previous Switch version.

Why is this important?

Resident Evil Switch 2 marks an important step for third-party support on the console. Heavy survival horror games built on Capcom's RE Engine now run natively on a hybrid portable console. This expands access to the series for those who prioritize mobility, without the latency limitations of cloud versions.

Early adopter discounts make the package more attractive: RE4 Gold Edition at $39.99 (from 49.99), RE2 Deluxe at $29.99 (from 39.99) and RE3 at about $19.79 (from 29.99) on the US eShop. Download sizes are around 14 GB, 13 GB and 29 GB respectively. Initial analyses point to a 60 FPS target.

What changes in practice?

Resident Evil Switch 2 players can now take the campaigns of Leon, Claire, Jill and the reimagined Leon from 2004 anywhere. Saves from cloud versions are not transferable. RE4 Gold includes Separate Ways, Mercenaries and extra content.

This strengthens the Switch 2 catalog in a dense release month and shows Capcom is committed to Nintendo hardware beyond cloud ports. Fans who waited for local performance finally have full access to the modern remake trilogy on Resident Evil Switch 2.
