What happened?
Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 arrive digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. Capcom confirmed the simultaneous launch of all three remakes, with physical editions scheduled for January 29, 2027.
The available versions are: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. Each includes specific extra content, including costumes, weapons and, in the case of RE4, the Separate Ways campaign featuring Ada Wong. The Resident Evil 2 Switch 2 release completes the arrival of the modern remake trilogy on the console.
Why does this matter?
Switch 2 consolidates itself as a multiplatform destination for major survival horror franchises. After Resident Evil 7 and Village, Capcom brings the trilogy of modern remakes from the main series, allowing players to experience Raccoon City and rural Spain anywhere.
The games use the RE Engine and offer updated graphics, improved controls and performance optimized for Switch 2 hardware. Early adopter discounts are available until November 7 in several regions.
What changes in practice?
Switch 2 players can buy and play all three remakes separately starting tomorrow. The digital version launches first; the physical version arrives in early 2027. There is no save transfer from the cloud versions of the original Switch.
- Resident Evil 2 Deluxe: extra costumes for Leon and Claire, Samurai Edge weapon and original soundtrack option.
- Resident Evil 3: main campaign with Jill Valentine and Nemesis.
- Resident Evil 4 Gold: main campaign + Separate Ways (Ada Wong) + extra DLC.
The launch reinforces Capcom’s multiplatform strategy and expands the AAA catalog on Switch 2. Resident Evil 2 Switch 2 arrives alongside the others for the complete series experience.
