Portal with RTX and Half-Life 2 RTX demo gain DLSS 5 Neural Rendering support

What happened?

NVIDIA has added official support for DLSS 5 Neural Rendering to Portal with RTX and the Half-Life 2 RTX demo. Both titles, based on RTX Remix, now allow enabling 3D-Guided Neural Rendering through the settings menu.

Portal with RTX received its update on October 21, including Windows on ARM support, DLSS Frame Generation Preset C, Multi Frame Generation up to 6x on RTX 50 GPUs and other rendering options. The Half-Life 2 RTX demo was updated on October 23 with DLSS 5, Preset C, up to 6x MFG and DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution with Preset F.

Why does this matter?

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering uses AI to improve lighting, materials and visual quality in ray-traced and path-traced games while boosting performance. Classics like Portal and Half-Life 2 gain a new layer of realism through RTX Remix, the technology NVIDIA uses to modernize older games with full ray tracing.

NVIDIA's Jacob Freeman confirmed the updates and explained that players should press Alt+X in-game and enable the 3D-Guided Neural Rendering option. The feature is optional and disabled by default.

What changes in practice?

GeForce RTX owners, especially 40 and 50 series, can test Neural Rendering on these free titles or demos. It serves as a showcase for the technology before it reaches more commercial games. The update also expands Arm platform support and performance optimizations.
