NVIDIA Germany: agreement for industrial AI and Physical AI signed with government

What happened?

On October 19, 2026, during the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent to advance industrial Artificial Intelligence and Physical AI in Germany. The agreement involves the federal ministries of Economic Affairs and Energy and of Research, Technology and Space, formalizing collaboration with the country's Industry 4.0 platform.

According to the official NVIDIA blog, the initiative aims to merge traditional German engineering with cutting-edge AI.

Why is this important?

Germany aims to integrate its expertise in manufacturing, automotive engineering, and medium-sized companies (Mittelstand) with cutting-edge AI models. The goal is to establish a state-of-the-art industrial AI ecosystem in Europe and systematically bring AI into widespread use. This includes developing Physical AI models — AI applied to physical systems such as robotics and factories — and expanding existing partnerships, such as with Siemens in Erlangen factories, where AI solutions have already reduced engineering efforts by up to 85%.

More details are available in the Tagesschau report.

What changes in practice?

NVIDIA will make its AI models more accessible to smaller German companies and research institutions. The initiative seeks to accelerate AI adoption in traditional industries, potentially boosting competitiveness and efficiency. Merz affirmed the commitment to make Germany one of the most advanced places in the world for integrating AI into industry.

The collaboration includes GPU deliveries and support for physical AI projects, aligned with European technology sovereignty efforts.
