Startup Nirva today announced a $25 million pre-Series A round, bringing total funding to $33 million. The capital funds development and launch of an ambient AI pendant that listens exclusively to the wearer’s voice.
Founded in 2025 by Wei Lyu and Jason Chen (both former Meta Reality Labs) and Hanying Hu (founder of a fashion and jewelry brand), the company is betting on an approximately 8-gram device that can be worn as a pendant or bracelet. Battery life reaches up to three days. Orders begin in November, with delivery to early users still this year. Price will be $249, available in silver, brushed silver, black and gold.
How the voice filter works
During onboarding the user records snippets of their own voice. The device then builds a model and filters conversations and sounds from people nearby, recording only the wearer. By default Nirva does not retain audio or transcripts after processing. Before discarding, it extracts tone, pitch, volume and speed to generate emotional insights.
The companion app surfaces personality patterns, people the user interacts with, places and action reminders. CEO Lyu described the product as a self-understanding tool rather than pure productivity: “we want to help people show up better for others in their lives.”
Ambient AI wearable context
The launch arrives amid a proliferation of ambient devices. Amazon recently launched a wearable with Bee, Apple added Voice Intelligence features on the Watch, and startups such as Taya, Friend and Sandbar Ring are also exploring smart jewelry or rings. Nirva highlights its exclusive focus on the user’s voice and immediate audio discard.
Investors include Lightspeed and South Park Commons (previous $8 million round). The company plans additional devices longer term.
