Nintendo adds Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania and Revenge of the 'Gator to Switch Online on October 27

Nintendo has announced the addition of three classic Game Boy games to the Nintendo Classics library of the Switch Online service. Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania and Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator will be available from October 27, 2026 for standard plan subscribers, on both Switch and Switch 2.

The confirmation came via an official post by Nintendo of America on X and reports from specialized outlets such as Nintendo Life and Gematsu. The announcement includes a trailer with the three titles. Japan will receive the same additions.

The added games

  • Avenging Spirit (Jaleco, 1992): side-scrolling action game in which the protagonist, already dead, returns as a ghost to rescue his girlfriend. The main mechanic allows possessing other characters and using their abilities.
  • Mole Mania (Nintendo EAD & PAX Softnica, 1997): puzzle produced by Shigeru Miyamoto. The player controls Muddy Mole, who must rescue his family from the evil farmer Jinbe, switching between surface and underground layers, pushing balls and solving mazes.
  • Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator (HAL Laboratory, 1990): pinball game with several stages and multiplayer modes.

Why it matters

The addition brings the number of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on Switch Online to around 49 titles (with some exclusive to Japan). Mole Mania stands out for involving Miyamoto, creator of Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, and offers a distinct puzzle experience. Avenging Spirit is often cited as a hidden gem for its possession mechanic.

Access requires only the standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription, without the Expansion Pack. The games will be available on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, with modern features such as save states.
