Intel confirmed the Intel Razor Lake-AX SoC during the “Semiconductors Powering Humanoids” seminar in South Korea. The chip, aimed at robotics and humanoid applications, will launch in 2028 with a target of 700 TOPS of AI computing.
What happened?
Cho Min-sung, senior vice president at Intel, presented the company's roadmap at the event held on October 16, 2026 in Seoul. According to him, the current Panther Lake-based platform (Core Ultra Series 3) offers up to 180 combined TOPS. Nova Lake will arrive in early 2027, followed by Razor Lake-AX in 2028 with around 700 TOPS — almost 3.9 times more.
The chip is not a traditional PC platform. It resembles AMD's Ryzen Halo, with multiple cores, powerful GPUs and high memory capacity, aimed at premium devices and the Physical AI market.
Why is this important?
With 700 TOPS, the Intel Razor Lake-AX surpasses the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin (about 275 TOPS) and allows robots to process camera feeds, identify objects and make decisions with less dependence on remote servers. Intel forecasts mass production of autonomous mobile robots in 2027 and humanoids from 2028.
What changes in practice?
Robotics developers will have a more powerful platform for autonomous systems. There is still no confirmation whether the chip will reach consumer PCs. The TOPS measurement (dense or sparse) has not yet been detailed.
