Meta has made the official Instagram app available for Apple TV. Users can now watch Reels, longer videos from creators and live broadcasts directly on Apple's streaming device.
The app lets users discover new content, follow favorite creators and resume watching from where they left off on other devices. The company describes the experience as a way to watch together with friends and family on the big screen.
According to MacRumors, the app appears to have launched on October 23, 2026. Metadata for version 66.0 points to that date, while an archived App Store listing from October 19 still showed compatibility only with iPhone and iPad. It requires tvOS 26.0 or later and is available on the Apple TV App Store.
Context of the expansion
Instagram had already been testing TV versions since December 2025, starting on Amazon Fire TV in the United States. It later expanded to Google TV in February 2026 and to Samsung smart TVs in June. The initial experience focused on Reels organized into interest-based channels with automatic playback.
In June, Meta announced plans to go beyond short videos, including longer creator content, episodic series and live broadcasts. The Apple TV version reflects this expansion. The launch also follows the dedicated iPad app, which arrived in September 2025.
