GPT-6 Astra Pro in ChatGPT: parallel agents accelerate complex tasks

What happened?

OpenAI has updated the GPT-6 Astra Pro model in ChatGPT. The new version brings faster responses, improved use of plugins and tools, plus the ability for multiple agents to work in parallel on different parts of a task. Announced on October 16, 2026, the feature is already available to Pro subscribers in the Chat tab.

With GPT-6 Astra Pro, users can follow the progress of each agent individually and review completed work without interrupting the others.

Why is this important?

GPT-6 Astra Pro was already considered one of the most advanced models for computer use and agentic tasks. The introduction of parallel agents in GPT-6 Astra Pro significantly boosts productivity: complex tasks that previously required sequential execution can now be split and processed simultaneously, saving time and reducing token costs.

This transforms the ChatGPT experience with GPT-6 Astra Pro into something closer to a team of specialized assistants collaborating in real time.

What changes in practice?

Pro subscribers of GPT-6 Astra Pro can now delegate subtasks to agents that operate at the same time. One agent can research information, another analyze data and a third format the final result, while the user monitors everything through ChatGPT. The GPT-6 Astra Pro update also improves integration with existing plugins and tools.

There is still no official forecast on when the parallel agents of GPT-6 Astra Pro will reach plans such as Plus.
