The From Far Away anime premieres tomorrow, October 4, 2026, on Crunchyroll. The adaptation of Kanata kara, Kyoko Hikawa's shojo manga, arrives with character trailers already out, including one for Izark Kia Tarj, voiced by Kentaro Kumagai.
What happened?
Crunchyroll published the Izark-focused trailer on October 2 and confirmed the series premiere on the service on October 4. In Japan, broadcast starts the same day on Tokyo MX at 24:00 (midnight from Sunday into Monday). AT-X follows on October 7 and ABC on October 10, according to material released by the project.
Studio DEEN produces the show, directed by Noriyuki Abe (The Heroic Legend of Arslan). Rika Takasugi handles series composition, Eiji Abiko character design and Takeshi Hama the music. Tomoyo Kurosawa voices Noriko Tachiki. Izark is Kentaro Kumagai, known for Laios in Delicious in Dungeon. Rachef is Yuichiro Umehara and Keimos is Eiji Takeuchi.
The opening is Tokoko by GNJB, and the ending is Hikari no Soba de by Nanashi no Taro, revealed in an earlier Crunchyroll trailer. The manga ran in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume from September 1991 to October 2002, in 14 volumes and more than 4 million copies in circulation. VIZ Media publishes the English edition.
Why it matters
The From Far Away anime arrives about 35 years after the original run began and is only now getting a TV version. The premise is direct: Noriko, on her way home, falls into a fantasy world and is saved by Izark. He is brave, but he carries an ancient evil. A prophecy says Noriko can awaken that evil. It is shojo isekai from before the label became a catalog genre.
The cast ties the series to recent titles. Kumagai as Laios helps viewers who never read the manga recognize the voice. Abe in the director's chair lowers the risk of treating the classic as just another generic autumn isekai.
What changes in practice
Anyone following the October season already has a date: October 4 on Crunchyroll. The Izark trailer is in the Crunchyroll story (crunchyroll.com). There is no Portuguese dub announcement in the sources used here; the cited premiere is the service broadcast, in the pattern of the platform's simulcasts.
