Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold gets a date: February 23, 2027, with new job Zephyr

Square Enix has dated Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold: the MMORPG's sixth expansion launches on February 23, 2027. The announcement was made during the Fan Festival 2026 keynote in Tokyo on October 30 and is classified here as CONFIRMED, as it comes from Square Enix's official event and was reported by several independent outlets.

Early access and pre-orders

Players who pre-order will get early access from February 19, 2027. Pre-orders open on November 4, 2026. The final date is a delay of roughly four weeks from the January 2027 window announced in April at the Anaheim Fan Festival.

Zephyr, the new job

The keynote also revealed the expansion's second new job: Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that fights with a crossbow and is supported by an avian familiar. Like Bastion, the dual-greatshield tank revealed in Berlin, Zephyr starts at level 90 and can only be played in Evolved Mode, the new battle system that puts more emphasis on each job's identity. Neither new job will be available in Reborn Mode, which keeps the current combat system.

The world of Evercold

On the world side, the presentation introduced Sessrymnir, the Realmship of Earth, joining Naglfar (Water) and Hringhorni (Fire) as the floating ships where players will spend much of the expansion, above the frozen wastes of the Fourth. Evercold raises the level cap from 100 to 110, lets players choose the order of certain areas after a point in the main scenario, and adds Auto Content Balancing, which scales duties and field enemies to the party so players of different levels can play together in the new areas.

Platforms

Evercold launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Windows, Mac and Steam. It will be the first expansion launch for the Switch 2 version, which arrived on August 4.
