Final Fantasy Resonance Launches Tomorrow: First HD-2D Title in the Franchise Arrives October 22

Final Fantasy Resonance arrives tomorrow, October 22, 2026, marking the first Final Fantasy title in HD-2D style. Developed by Square Enix in partnership with Lancarse and published by Square Enix, the game adapts the first story arc of the mobile Final Fantasy Brave Exvius into a premium single-player experience.

Platforms and price

The RPG will be available for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). Base price is around $49.99. A free demo covering Chapter 1 (about 3 to 5 hours) is already available on all platforms, with progress transferable to the full version.

Gameplay and Visions

Combat is traditional turn-based. Players control Rain and his companions (Lasswell, Fina, Lid) in Lapis, protecting the remaining crystals after the Earth Crystal is shattered. The Visions system lets you equip crystallized essences of iconic series heroes (such as Cloud from Final Fantasy VII) for extra abilities and devastating Resonance attacks.

The soundtrack features 120 tracks, including music from Brave Exvius and 33 new compositions by Noriyasu Agematsu. There are no gacha mechanics; it is a complete RPG without live-service elements.
