Famitsu sales Tales of Eternia: remaster tops Japan with 42,000 copies in first week

Famitsu sales Tales of Eternia Remastered highlighted the remaster as the clear leader for the week of October 12–18, 2026 in Japan, with 42,304 physical copies sold across Switch 2 (17,911), Switch (14,003), and PS5 (10,390).

What happened?

The Bandai Namco remaster of the classic JRPG, originally released in Japan in 2000 for PlayStation and later for PSP, topped the week. In second place was Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse from Konami, with 23,251 copies (15,630 on Switch and 7,621 on PS5).

On the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch 2 stayed ahead with 21,854 units sold during the week, followed by the PlayStation 5 family (10,667 units). Xbox Series lagged far behind with just 229 units.

Why it matters

The Famitsu numbers highlight the continued strength of the Switch 2 in the Japanese market and the appeal of well-made remasters of classic JRPGs. Tales of Eternia Remastered outsold the new Castlevania in physical copies, reinforcing interest in high-quality nostalgic titles.
