What happened?
DLSS AMD Radeon took a major leap with developer Daniel Blanco (danielblnc on GitHub) releasing version 0.8.0 of the unofficial DLSS-NR-on-AMD project on October 17, 2026. Owners of AMD Radeon RX 7000 (RDNA 3) and RX 9000 (RDNA 4) can now use nearly all major NVIDIA DLSS technologies.
This includes DLSS Super Resolution (4.5 models), DLSS Ray Reconstruction (Model F), DLSS Frame Generation up to 4x MFG, and DLSS 5 Neural Rendering. RDNA 2 support remains experimental.
Why does this matter?
NVIDIA DLSS often outperforms AMD FSR in ray-traced and path-traced games. The mod uses custom HIP kernels and requires users to supply official NVIDIA DLLs. Neural Rendering reaches about 90-100 FPS at 1080p on an RX 9070 XT.
What changes in practice?
Players can enable Ray Reconstruction in games like Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing. It works in DirectX 12 on Windows 11 with Adrenalin 26.1.1+ drivers. Anti-cheat blocks it, so best for single-player. See the project's GitHub for details.
