OpenAI has released the Decisions API for general use, an endpoint designed for fast and cheap decisions in applications and agents.
What happened?
Powered by the GPT-6 Luna model, the OpenAI Decisions API focuses on questions with bounded answers. Instead of free text, it returns typed answers: probability, choice among options, or score. It accepts text, images and structured data.
The company states it is up to 10x faster than the Responses API with the same model. Price: $0.10 per million input tokens (output free). New features since beta include up to 400 questions per call, caching, US/EU residency and native JSON and image support.
Why it matters
Agent workflows perform many small classifications and routings. Lower latency and cost open the way for near-real-time interactions in games, tools and interactive systems — exactly the kind of use the geek audience follows closely.
