Developer Massive Monster has announced that Cult of the Lamb Switch 2 will have a native version, scheduled for release on October 22, 2026.
What happened?
In the official announcement on X (@cultofthelamb), the studio stated: "CULT OF THE LAMB comes to NINTENDO SWITCH 2 on OCTOBER 22ND! Cultists that already own COTL on Switch 1 can upgrade for FREE, while those that don't will have to pay the price. That price being the same amount as the Switch 1 version."
This means owners of the original Switch version can upgrade for free to the Cult of the Lamb Switch 2 version, and new players will pay the same price as the Switch 1 version, typically $24.99 on the eShop.
Why it matters
Cult of the Lamb, released in 2022 by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, is an indie that mixes action roguelike with cult management simulation. The player controls a possessed lamb that builds a flock, performs rituals and fights heretics. The original Switch version had performance issues with larger cults. The Cult of the Lamb Switch 2 version is expected to bring resolution and frame rate improvements, although technical details have not yet been confirmed by the studio.
The game has already received the Woolhaven expansion in January 2026 and various packs. It is not yet clear whether DLCs and saves will transfer automatically, or if physical cartridges qualify for the free upgrade of the Cult of the Lamb Switch 2 version. Sources such as Nintendo Life and Siliconera confirmed the announcement.
