Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 launches today with Korean Peninsula campaign and full multiplayer

Infinity Ward and Activision released Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 (MW4) this Friday, October 23, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Battle.net) and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game is now available globally, with the single-player campaign having received early access since October 16 for digital pre-orders.

What happened?

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 campaign puts the player in the role of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing a full-scale North Korean invasion. The story continues Captain Price's saga and is set on the Korean Peninsula.

In multiplayer, the title launches with 20 maps (including 12 Core 6v6), over a dozen modes, 33 weapons and 33 operators. There are also two Prestige paths and DMZ mode.

Why it matters

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 marks the franchise's return to Nintendo after years of absence and is one of 2026's major releases, competing with other blockbusters like GTA 6 later in the year.

The game is not on Xbox Game Pass at launch; arrival on the subscription is planned for Holiday 2027.

In practice

Those who pre-loaded Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 can play immediately. Launch patch notes detail weapon, movement and spawn adjustments based on beta feedback.
