Blue Archive changes publisher in Japan: Yostar hands over to Nexon in 2027

Blue Archive will have its Japanese operation transferred from Yostar to Nexon starting in January 2027. The announcement was made on October 25, 2026, during an official livestream and confirmed in statements from both companies.

What happened?

NEXON Games, the developer of Blue Archive, requested the end of the publishing contract with Yostar. After lengthy negotiations, the parties reached a mutual agreement to transfer operations and distribution in Japan to Nexon, a company in the same group as the developer. The goal is to unify development, operation, and IP expansion under one roof.

The change does not mean the end of the Blue Archive service. Account data, items, and Pyroxene (premium currency) will be transferred. Players will need to complete an account transfer procedure before the January maintenance. In November, a conversation video between executive producer Kim Yong-ha and Yostar president Li Hengda will be released, along with the procedure page.

Why does this matter?

Blue Archive is one of the biggest anime/mobile gacha titles in the Japanese market. The transfer consolidates Nexon’s control over the intellectual property and may bring changes in marketing, events, and international expansion. Yostar continues to operate the Chinese server for now.

Recent FAQ updates confirm that scenario production and translation of Blue Archive remain under NEXON Games supervision, and that there will be specific secondary creation (fan content) guidelines for the game.

What changes in practice?

The Blue Archive transfer maintenance takes place in January 2027. The “Blue Archive Fes” festival on January 23 and 24 will already be held under the new operation. Players should follow the official transfer site and link their Yostar ID account in advance so they do not lose progress.

Development of Blue Archive remains the same, so the quality of narrative content and events should be preserved.
