AMD posts record $13.4B Q3 revenue as data center nearly doubles

AMD reported third-quarter 2026 results with record revenue of $13.4 billion, up 45% year-over-year. The data center segment, driven by EPYC processors and the launch of Instinct MI450 GPUs, nearly doubled to $8.5 billion.

What happened?

According to the official release and earnings call, data center revenue rose 97% year-over-year. CEO Lisa Su highlighted that the quarter exceeded guidance and that customers including Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Oracle Cloud are already running workloads on the first Helios rack-scale systems with MI450.

The Client and Gaming segment came in at $3.7 billion, down 8%, with gaming falling 40% to $773 million. GAAP gross margin was 54% and non-GAAP 56%. Non-GAAP net income reached $3.5 billion (diluted EPS of $2.09).

Why does this matter?

The figures show that the AI data center boom is benefiting chipmakers beyond Nvidia. Data center now accounts for more than half of AMD’s revenue, contrasting with the decline in gaming. The company guided fourth-quarter revenue to approximately $17 billion (±3%), representing about 66% year-over-year growth.

What changes in practice?

Investors and the AI hardware market are watching the MI450 and Helios systems ramp. AMD expects full-year data center revenue to more than double from 2025. Sources: AMD official release and November 3, 2026 earnings call.
