Hardware startup Aina emerged from 15 months in stealth and unveiled on Thursday (November 5, 2026) the Aina, a titanium AI ring built to interact with AI agents. The device packs an OLED screen, a mechanical joystick, a microphone and a speaker into a format aimed at people who already live with several agents at once.
How the AI ring works
The idea is to replace the phone screen with a control on your finger. Its in-house operating system, Context Aware OS, learns the user's patterns and suggests the three most likely next actions, shown as "Cues" on the ring's display. A flick of the joystick up approves a suggestion; down rejects it. Holding the center button activates voice control.
With Aina Voice, users can send prompts to connected agents, dictate notes, set reminders and take calls — the speaker lets you answer by bringing your hand to your ear. On Mac, dictation works through Wispr Flow or the company's own engine. Aina Remote turns the ring into a contextual controller: in a meeting it shows microphone, camera and note-taking controls; watching TV, it becomes an Apple TV remote; it also controls music, smart-home devices and even Uber rides.
According to the company, agents can be connected through the Aina app, with support for names such as Muse, Instinct and Dots. At launch, compatibility covers only iOS and Mac. Battery life is up to 18 hours, according to the manufacturer, and the TechCrunch journalist who tested the device for a few days described it as "a smartwatch in ring format", with more controls.
Price and availability
Apoorv Shankar, former vice president of hardware at Ultrahuman, founded Aina in May 2025, and the startup raised $5.5 million in July 2026. Before the ring, the team shipped Mirage, a three-key controller for Mac. Pre-orders opened on November 5 at an early-bird price of $399, rising to $499 afterwards, with shipping starting in January 2027.
The AI ring arrives amid a race for AI-agent hardware, with initiatives such as OpenAI's experimental keyboard and Rabbit's push to position itself as a controller — and direct competitors such as Pebble Index 01, Sandbar Stream, Oasis and Natura. Nothing has also joined this race with a screen-free AI device for December, as we covered on Geekiki. "For interacting with proactive agents, we need a better interface, and that is what we had in mind while designing Aina," Shankar told TechCrunch.
